Default Martin Titanium Strings on a Dread?

They only come in light gauge, but I was wondering if anyone has tried them on a dread. If so, do you lose some of the low end? How did you like them? I would probably tweak my truss rod a bit. Otherwise, they'll go on my OM.

Actually they are more like a 'Light Top -Medium Bottom' gauge set.
.012 - .016 - .027 - .034 - .044 - .055

I've have them on a rosewood jumbo - no loss of bottom end.

I think the low end is as good as any other string if not better.
I have them on my Pono Slope Shoulder Dread Spruce/ Mahogany...I like them. They will definitely "darken" your guitar's tone.

I have Martin Titanium Strings on my custom Martin D-28 (Amazon Rosewood back & sides with Adirondack top). I think they sound great.

My set of titanium strings was free from Martin but I am ready to buy a set. I like them that much.

The tonal characteristics are very similar. The Titaniums are Nickel wrapped. The Monels are a Nickel/Copper Alloy...maybe a tad brighter. They are really easy to play compared to ANY other string I have tried. Hey, like I said, four months and still going strong.
I just put my Pono down after I made a short sound file. I'll post it later over on the J45 True Vintage vs. J45 Standard "I can't hear the difference" post comparison and you can hear the Titaniums.
I am posting the sound file to show how similar the Pono Slope Shoulder's voice is to the J45 Vintage. Keep in mind I used an Ipad in a bedroom with no help from anything.

They are Stainless Steel in stead of coated carbon steel. No issues so fsr.

So do they sound the same? Warmer, and brighter?

Cool! Thanks rokdog

I really dig retro strings- very interested in these titaniums.

The unwrapped sound brighter to me than regular steel. Don't trust me on that. Could be my ears

Here I was, happily strumming away on my D-35 with medium Elixir PBs when a though occurred to me: "Oh hey, let's check the acoustic guitar forums! Haven't been there for a while!"

First thing I see is a thread about these new Titanium strings. Now there is a pack on its way to me and 50 pounds less in my wallet (with shipping to Hungary)

Why did I have to come here???!!!!!

I'm looking forward to trying them ,though. I sweat radioactive acid, so Elixirs have been the only way to go. The problem is, it's still possible to snap them. I go 1-2 months after changing strings, they still sound good, but I have a bigger show coming and I have to change them so that they surely don't snap on stage. Not with the titaniums, I hope!

I'm just worried how easily it gets rusty compared to coated strings.

I have mine strung on a dreadnought, a Martin D-18. I hear perhaps a touch less bass on the Titaniums than with the MSP-7200's that came on the guitar from the factory, but overall the guitar sounds better balanced between bass-mids-highs with none of the Phosphor Bronze metallic sound I dislike. I don't hear any appreciable decrease in volume on the Titaniums compared to the MSP-7200's either.

I've only had them on my guitar since late July so I can't comment on their longevity, but some of the Martin beta testers that frequent this forum have stated that after stringing them up 3-4 months ago, they are still going strong with no loss of tone.

Does it have any effect on the amplified sound (vs PB strings) if one uses a soundhole pickup?
