Drum Boogie - Gibson L5 1993 wesmo
Just recorded this take on my Gibson L5 1993 wesmo of the classic “Drum Boogie” by Gene Krupa/Roy Eldridge.

Love that sweet. woody tone you're getting - those single-pickup full-bodies were many an in-the-trenches player's secret weapon in the '50s, offering acoustic capability (more so with a carved top like yours) with plugged-in versatility...
Just curious about the neck dimensions; FWIW I had the pleasure/privilege of playing Wes' personal L-5 when MandoBros was handling the sale back in the early-2K's - definitely on the narrower side (my long-time preference, BTW), and although I know later production moved to a thicker profile I'm wondering if the earlier runs conformed to Wes' original specifications...

Late to the party..
THIS is my dream guitar, including the vintage - late 80s/early 90s.. Nothing in the world sounds like a good L5 (without a bridge pickup I ´d never use one anyway on this one ..) All of the greatest Wes tones are there.. imagine if he recorded his best album(s) like The Incredible Guitar of WM with this one instead of an 175, which made him much less of a justice soundwise IMO |
