Default Taylor GC owners...what strings are you using?

I'd like to hear what strings the Taylor Grand Concert players around here are running that sound wonderful under finger picking...but stand up to light/med strumming as well.

Newtone Masterclass BP lights on my all-mahogany 12-fret GC. Sweet, woody tone under the fingers. Just fine with a pick too.

I don't understand what "standing up to light strumming" means. I have a 412 and it has stood up to vigorous strumming for 25 years with light strings. I don't finger pick a lot but my D'Addario 10-46 string sound fine also.

The guitar has yet to fall apart under my barrage.

I've settled on Elixr PB Nanoweb Lights for my 522. Really like them.

Taylor GC owners...what strings are you using?

I use Elixir PB HD Lights on both my GCs, and also many of my other 6 stringers, including both J-200 jumboes and my 818 Grand Orchestra. 412 GC came with 'em, while the Grand Orchestra came with Mediums.

HD gauge makes all of them more balanced, and the big boys produce more than enough bass even with this gauge. I fingerpick all my guitars using my nails as picks.

Here's a short interview with Andy Powers on the origin of the HD gauge:

To be complete about the six stringers, my walnut jumbo wears Elixir PB Mediums, and my Alvarez AJ60S likes Elixir PB Lights.

My GC7 (otherwise known as a 712, but with cedar top), wears Straight Up Strings, 12's. Lower tension, great tone. Sometimes I like GHS Vintage Bronze 12's. But I would also endorse Newtone Masterclass.

If it's a GC, I think it would have come in Lights - 12-53s.

Hello I have the American Dream Ad27. It's a grand concert body and the website listed D’Addario Coated Phosphor Bronze - Medium.
