Martin early 2000's binding
Hello. To what degree should I expect binding issues on 2003 and 2005 Martin 40 series guitars?

I don’t believe the binding issues began until around 2012.

I had a 2003 j40. Binding came loose at 3 of the 4 waist locations. Talk to just about any Martin repair person for the scope of the issue.

The Martins on which I had binding issues were both post 2012 so my personal experience supports this premise. YMMV

I have had binding issues with 3 different brands...none of them Martin. It happens. My understanding is that Martins became overly prone to binding issues post 2012 when a new more environmentally friendly glue was tried and ultimately discarded.

My 2010 HD-28V is fine, but my 2012 D-18 is currently in the shop for a re-glue of rear waist binding. 2012 seems to be when the glue was changed and the separation issue became a big problem.

thanks for all the replies. I am aware to some extent of the post 2012 issues, but also I have had binding glue failure on a 1997 model.
