Default Some otherworldly tops here.

Yairi had a Jacaranda topped, 1974, model.

Mango:

Monkeypod:

I had a Sitka/monkeypod Yong and it sounded like a great Martin.
I just couldn't get the setup correct, but it sure was a luxury liner.

So far as I'm aware, the reason rosewood has that name is that the scent of Brazilian rosewood when cut is strongly reminiscent of flowers. This is to the point where oil taken from Brazilian rosewood is one of the most important ingredients of perfume, the best known of these being Chanel ˚5.

It's ironic, but the perfume industry consumes more Brazilian rosewood than the musical instrument industry does.

Francisco Navarro makes a classical guitar, a student model, with rosewood top, back and sides. I haven’t seen others but haven’t been looking specifically for it.

I've seen a few, but you're too late, this one is sold!

Thanks Tippy5 for the videos! I’ve watched videos showing Jeffrey Yong’s Mango and Monkeypod guitars before.
But don’t own any of his guitars. They are too luxurious for me. Lol.

However, I do own a humble Faith Blood Moon made of full solid Trembesi (Monkeypod) top, b/s. It is made of hardwood like Koa. Thanks to IndyHD28, I managed to check its hardness rating. I call it a poor man’s alternative to a Taylor K24CE. Here it is:

Beautiful Rosewood guitar!

I wasn’t looking for a solid top Rosewood guitar. Just asking only...

Thanks again Wade for that historical part of Rosewood.

So does that mean our perfumes can be confiscated under CITES regulations too?

50+ years ago I had an all rosewood classical. Bought it for $ 50. It sounded just fine. It was very nice looking, it was sweet, it was stolen.

Wow! Was it an all-solid Rosewood (top, b/s)?

Haha, I keep the Wood Database open on my iPad at all times cause I needed to look up Monkeywood! And I own a K24ce-V so your comment intrigued me.

It turns out MW at 900 is exactly the same hardness as Honduran Mahogany and it is grown in the same region so it is not surprising that it would make a good tonewood. It is certainly a beautiful guitar.
