Wink Fred Tellier challenges the world with explosive nylon build!!

Fred is so low key I upped the ante on him with this provocative thread title!

I asked Fred to build my next guitar - the specs are:

Here's the sinker cedar top:

and here's the maddy back/sides:

Here's the rosette going in. It's Fred's spalted maple creation:

That's how far we are along. Fred started last week. After we (remotely) went thru his wood selection and finalized the choices things are moving quite quickly.

I'm excited about this guitar - finding the perfect specs for me is impossible - the only route is custom build. Plus Fred's guitars look darn cool to boot.

I'll post more as we go.

Those are some fine looking wood choices Tristan. You are in great hands with Fred at the helm so it should be an awesome build. I look forward to following this one.

That should be pretty darn nice - I'd been "eyeing" one of Fred's steel strings at Elderly recently.

Smile Nifty choices

Interesting build for sure! I like the idea of a radiused fretboard and a slim neck for a classical. My small hands just don't like normal classical necks at all.

The rosette is very tasty too!!! Plus I do appreciate a good thread title...

I am in. Let's PARTY

Paul

UPDATE - Fred is building away, working on my guitar and finishing his first nylon build at the same time.

First up - neck construction!

Tristan is on a epic journey across the US and into Vancouver island British Columbia in his motor home along with his family and 10 large dogs. He asked me to post some progress as his internet access is limited on route.

The body is now completed except for the veneers on the armrest and scoop cutaway and final sanding.

Madagascar with Wenge binding and black/maple purfling

Woods wet with solvent to simulate what the under finish color will be

Test fit of partially shaped neck and fingerboard

Thanks for looking and well wishes to Tristan and the dogs

Fred
