Default "Goodbye, Porkpie Hat," DADGAD Fingerstyle

I've been playing a DADGAD arrangement of the Charles Mingus classic "Goodbye, Porkpie Hat" (based on Tony McManus' version) for a while, and I've had another take on YouTube for a while. But it came out pretty well at a house concert I recently played, so here it is. Had some fun with an animated-look video filter as well!

Guitar is a 1999 Lowden O10. Zoom Q2n camera for the main shot and the audio, iPhone for the side shot.

Hey eyesore,

Yes, capo 1. I don't have TAB, but I think Tony McManus may have his version on one of his Stefan Grossman Guitar Workshop lesson videos.

I have a different video without the effect, if you want to see more of what's going on:

Great take on an iconic blues... really enjoyed that, and I'm pretty sure that Charles would have, as well!

The guitar was plugged in to something, yes? What pickup are you using, and is that the recorded sound we're hearing?

Nice to hear the harmonics; they "line up" well with DADGAD! Not so much in standard tuning...

All in all, very nice playing and a splendid rendition of one of my favorite songs... thanks for posting this!

In the first video (with the visual effect), the guitar is plugged into an AER Compact 60 using a Baggs Anthem SL through a Fishman Platinum Pro preamp. Volume was pretty low, so you're probably hearing a mix of the actual guitar and what's coming out of the amp. The second video is a blend of a Baggs Anthem and an AKG C1000S mic into a PA, and the audio is a line-out from the house-sound mixing board.

Very nice Teja. I’ve been playing John McLaughlins version from his “My goals beyond” album for a lot of years. (With modifications for one guitar) This is a great alternative arrangement.
