Many of us just wanted a looper to play around with and had no intention of using it in a live performance. The single button pedals are much cheaper and good enough for just creating a loop to use as a backing track.

The other features on the RC3 make a second switch appealing. 3 hours of recording time is amazing. You can store dozens of preset tracks, I use it to capture ideas, like a DAT (remember those?). Having a huge onboard memory is what often drives people to the RC3. That, and its size, and its built in drum tracks. The drum track might not be used for drums, it provides a metronome which lets you get your tracks on time. Its a matter of features, size and cost.
