FINALLY!

THIS is the guitar I've been waiting for! It's been hanging in the music store I teach at for years, tormenting me.

My financial situation has taken an upward turn. I got a raise at work and a weekly church gig, so I've decided to go for it.

Not quite sure of the year. It came to the store between '04 and '06 I'd say, right before Alvarez changed all the model numbers and then gave the whole catalog an overhaul.

After about 2 final weeks of torture waiting for the set-up I brought her home tonight.

Specs:

Solid spruce top
Solid rosewood back
Rosewood sides (laminate)
Rosewood fingerboard
Tree of Life fretboard inlay
Maple binding on body with abalone accents
Abalone soundhole rosette
Maple neck and headstock binding
Gold die-cast tuners

Very pretty guitar. There's a ghost on the back of it though...

Nice find! I bought an Alvarez/Yairi used after one strum. No kidding, really, it was that good. I keep looking for them all the time. Great guitars.

I've heard that a lot of people don't like the stock Alvarez pickguard. I'm rather digging it. I think a tortoise guard would detract from the guitar's appointments, and a regular-shaped one would just be kind of blah...

Love the Tree-of-Life inlay. Been looking for one of those for 3-4 years, but have not found one in a shop. See them occasionally on eBay, but have not been brave enough to buy one that way.

Enjoy!

p.s. we'll be waiting on a sound sample

I love Alvarez guitars.
That is a beauty.
I'm one of those that doesn't like the current pick guard.
It is just a funky shape to me.
My MD came with one of those in the case.
I put on a normal tortoise guard.
It looks fairly classy imo.

I'm still waiting for the right Yairi at the right price.
But I was two or more years waiting for my Masterworks.
So, I've learned patience.

I brought it home Monday night, and since then I've been too sick to play it...
