Default Santa Cruz PJ?

I've got my heart set on a parlor from SCGC, but it looks like there's no shop within 3-4 hours that has any or anticipates any arriving. I do have sights on a gorgeous 00, but I'm loath to give up on the parlor without giving one a spin. Any opinions on these models? How big is the difference, really, in terms of sound and feel? I do like the idea of the 24" scale, since I play a lot of crunchy voicings. Primary use for the instrument will be self-accompaniment of vocals: small-venue performance, songwriting, household noodling, probably a bit of recording at some point.
