Please join me in welcoming our newest sponsor and friend of the AGF - Lagan Lutherie School! Lagan Lutherie School offers both full and part time classes in stringed instrument making and can also offer accommodation to those attending from other countries.
Lagan Lutherie School takes its name from the river Lagan, which runs through the city of Belfast, and leads out to the Irish Sea. The school itself is based in a period property on Eglantine Avenue, situated off the affluent Malone Road area of South Belfast, and is only minutes from Queens University and the city centre. The local areas benefits from University culture with lots of music venues, bars & clubs, art galleries, shops and cafes all nearby. ![]() ![]() ![]() If you've thought about studying Lutherie, please take a moment to check out their website. Thanks for your support! ![]() JR |

For those of us with some Ulster ancestry, like me, the name Lagan reminds me of the great ballad "Lagan Love," sung memorably by Sinead O'Connor here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s145VpTgVXQ For those puzzled by the gaelic phrase "leannán sí," it's a type of demon lover, a Celtic succubus of sorts. Here, in part, is Wikipedia's explanation: Quote:
Well. Leaving all that madness and early death ASIDE, welcome to the Acoustic Guitar Forum, Lagan Lutherie School! Some of my people came from Newry in the County Down, and I'm glad to see some Ulster representation here. Wade Hampton Miller |

If I had any talent for manual labor at all, this would certainly be attractive! I'm very glad to welcome a Lutherie School as a Sponsor, and suspect that people will be most interested in learning more.

Welcome indeed. If this is where Ciaran McNally honed his skills you must be doing something right.

Thanks for the kind welcome everyone.
We look to forward to interacting on the forum. I think we will try to post photos of whats being made in the shop at least once a month in "Build & Repair." (I'll do the first one now) But we'll also try to weigh in on discussions of lutherie, tonewoods, repairs etc and answer any questions that we can. Thanks LLS ![]() |
