Default Izotope sale PSA

I upgraded to Rx8 standard last night for only $100. It has some features I'd like to explore. Other products/upgrades are also on sale if any one is interested.

The problem with Izotope right now is that they're not being upfront about future support for those who are buying rather than subscribing. It seems, at least from comments I've seen, that this is an emerging trend from companies that are transitioning from selling plugins to selling subscriptions.

Thanks for the heads up! Gonna jump on RX 8 right now. Very timely as I'm working on an album mix this week and there's a few spots that could definitely use it

RX 8 fixed at least one bug (in the OS X version) of MP3 exports that iZotope refused to acknowledge in RX 6. Really PO'd me. I still have both on my system, and the bug is there in RX 6, but not RX 8, while iZotope insisted it was an OS X problem. As such, I have a somewhat dim view on their OS X support, but RX is a useful tool.

I generally resist their upgrades because I have a fairly limited set of tools I use, and for me, the changes largely fall into cosmetic ones that mean I have to scratch my head for a few minutes. They really are not focused on the small acoustic type recordings as a big market share, so not surprising in that sense.

I have not found the string squeak remover (or any of the other guitar noise options) that good, or at least, I don't think the "dials" on that one allow enough fine control for the cases I've tried to use it, and I've used something else (probably some spectral de-noise mode) more successfully.

I am likely at the end of my upgrades though, especially if they ever force a subscription model.

I've always used the spectral de-noise for squeak with good results, but sometimes I got a little "wonky" sounding result too. I'll have to play around with that new feature and see what's going on with it.

Sometimes I was able to just cut the squeak right out too. It depends.

The breath control feature is one that I have yet to explore, I was using spectral repair for that also.
