Suction cup mark on Martin D-28
Greetings! I like the feel of the NeckUp guitar support a lot, however the suction cup left this mark on my D-28, which I haven't been able to get out with either Gibson or Martin polish. Any suggestions (other than using a different support)?
Thanks, Mike.

Ohhh my, Martins use nitro over shellac, the nitro seperates real easy from the shellac underneath, I would never recommend using any vacuum cup device on a martin

Martin hasn't used shellac in over 50 years.....
What you are seeing is a reaction between the vinyl of the suction cup and the nitro finish. Similar to what some stands do to these finishes. This hazing is permanent and the finish will need removed and re-applied to remove the cross contamination of vinyl chloride. Continued use of the suction cup will likely cause the finish to become soft and gummy in that area. |

Have both the Neck-Up and Sagework.
https://sagework.org/ No suction cups needed. No gloss finish needed. |

I was finally able to polish out the marks with the Gibson polish, applied a Kling-on removable suction cup protector sheet, and am able to now use the Neck-up support without issue.
Thanks, Mike.
