Default This guitar is awesome! Anyone know of any similar guitars?

I know that this particular guitar is made by a guy name René Reusser, located in the Swiss Alps according to his website. There aren't any for sale anywhere though so I think they are made pretty infrequently and probably hard to get if you're not famous or have a huge sum of money.

Does anybody know of any other guitars similarish in size, tone, look, etc.?

I can't really see it that well but it looks a little like a Larrivee "L" body with mahogany back and sides? Might get you some of "that" sound? Just a thought... https://www.larrivee.com/products/l-03-recording-series

How could you possibly judge the quality of a guitar based on that video?

Well something to consider regarding the sound is that the guitar he's playing is plugged in. You could probably replicate the tone with just about any guitar as long as you match whatever his setup is amplification wise.

Here's a video of him playing what appears to be the same guitar but not plugged in so you can actually hear if you like the unplugged sound.

Thats what I was thinking, plugged in sound, most of us are trying to avoid that sound.

That guitar to me sounds pretty utilitarian but Glens cover of Bowies Ashes to Ashes is fantastic.

Boy them seem'ed really intent on not giving a good shot of the headstock logo. At first I thought it might be a froggy bottom logo. but it seems too pointy around the head. That made me think of the Larrivees with the maple leaf headstock, but they have multiple leafs not one. (The one in the hotel doesn't seems to have an inlay like the one on stage.) BTW I agree with Malcolm, not sure how you can really tell how it'll sound in your living room

Well, admittedly I would consider myself pretty much a novice guitar player, so I'm not pretending to be an expert, just found a guitar I thought was cool and thought I'd ask if any knowledgeable folks here knew of similar models.

Sound is just one thing I mentioned - I was asking about guitars with similar size, shape, appearance, etc. as well as sound...this was more the purpose of the post, not replicating the exact sound he had while plugged in...if that makes sense.

But to address your point - I know a guitar is going to sound different when plugged in, but to my ear you can still hear the sound of the guitar. Otherwise, wouldn't everyone who plugged in just play the same guitar, if it all sounded the same? There's only three videos of this guitar being played basically, so I'm not saying I know that it sounds amazing in person, but I think it sounds great in the videos in the thread, both plugged and unplugged, as far as I can tell, but that's just my opinion.

I don't know what his new guitar is, but that old beater is a Takamini. Here's his take on it, when he was presented with a new one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jf3VBFZlMb0
