Interesting Craigslist Ad - "Custom Woodburned Guitars"
I'm still trying to decide how I feel about these...kinda cool...I guess. I'd have to see and feel them in person to decide.

They're definitely not for me, but it's a cool idea and the guy has some artistic talent, for sure.

Not my thing either but I can certainly appreciate the art form. I could see it looking really good hanging on a wall in the right place though.

So could I but that thing sticking out of his mouth would have to go. That kind of thing is so passé.

I'm impressed. In a world of cnc machines, his ad says "hand-woodburned". I'm picturing a wood burning pen like I used as a kid. If that's the way these were done, whoa. Amazing talent. He has Seagulls, Sigma's, Yamaha's.... A nice playing guitar and cool custom art. I could see it if I was local. I'm not even in the same country.

Laser systems that can do this are relatively inexpensive. I'm not saying these are done by laser, just saying the technology is there.

Passe? No. A reflection of the time and the person. You wouldn't claim you preferred a picture of Lincoln without the big hat because THAT was passe....but then again, maybe you would.

I love it as a piece of artwork but probably wouldn't have it on a guitar that I was performing with - too distracting. But it would look very cool hanging on the wall of my music room.

I absolutely love it for decoration. It would be cool to have an Escher optical illusion acoustic.
Is it possible he's using a programmed laser and claiming it's hand made?

Which I would not care to have either. As I say, that kind of thing is now passé.

The hat is not dangerous; the other thing kills people. It was once fashionable. It no longer is.

I get where you're coming from. To me it's nothing more than a reflection of the past and what was. Some would prefer a wood-burning of Bob Marley with a joint hanging out of his mouth. That wouldn't work for me. This thread already went sideways so... ...anyhoo and back to the topic, I like the idea of the wood burning, but only for the sake of art.
