Default Remote control mic boom

Now that would be convenient.

Call me thick, but what would be the practical advantage for the studio over a stationary one ?

I could easily build one. But it would be expensive,
Heavy and expensive. Did I mention it would be heavy?
Lol.

I understand the thought. If all of the above weren’t
fact, I’d like one too.

Back in the day there were several British studios built into retired churches with the control rooms upstairs in the balcony area. I can't imagine how tiring the steps would have been. My company once built a recording studio on that model. The space was abandoned and re-tasked. In urban areas there are many studios with separation between the recording room and the control room. We've had remote pattern condenser mics since the fifties. If someone will pay, why not?

Pricey but...

The main advantage IMO is that you can precisely save settings and either A/B them or recall them later.

What's the assistant engineer going to do if the mic boom's remotely controlled?

I thought a decent reasonably priced boom would be out there. They can make $99 drones with 720p video cameras, but a telescoping, rotating mic boom is harder than putting a guy on the moon?
