Well, first Ashley, welcome to the forum.
It is great to have a young person wih such understanding and appreciation of 60s-70s music. You are fortunate to have a dad that shared and taught you. As for Nashville... It suffers from the same maladies that afflicts much of today's music, regardless of genre. My neice is a songwriter in Nashville and has similar opinions of where the music has gone. Continue to be you. I liked your song. Too intelligent? Really? Well, don't dumb it down. Yes, maybe you are 30 years late in some ways but you have the knowledge and the right chops to bring about a change in the music on your terms. To borrow a phrase from those earlier days, "Keep on Truckin' ." |

Welcome to the forum Ashley! Good for you! Please don't ever conform or change for Nashville. Nashville has lost its soul.

I think a pedal will fix your issue. I always use a Fishman aura with my Taylors.
Good luck. |

Welcome and I also love your song. Honestly, I don't know a lot about amplifying acoustic guitars apart from what came inside my own.
However there are a lot of smart people here who can help you. Best, PJ ps, (I love the 70s vibe and colors!!)

Ashley, we would love to hear more from you when you get a chance to chime in. No matter what, follow the beat of your own drummer (so to speak). Your passion and talent and spirit are wonderful guides.

I've had a lot of luck with this pick up, I use the Amulet M not the phantom model, either are feed back resistant and give great tone. Good luck.https://youtu.be/yUCUszA8Z-Y

Ashley, I'm guessing you have the ES-2 pickup, they are fine pickups, but they do need some dialing in. Took me awhile to get mine sounding right, but when I did , it was fine sounding. Good luck to you !

Your song reminded me of this guy's

Welcome Ashley! Quite an entrance ... !
I think you were paid a pretty solid compliment with that "intelligent lyrics" comment! (Whether or not they intended it as such ... ) Looking forward to your participation in this great community! ~ Paul ...

Hey, Ashley! Nice song and attitude!!!
By the way, has anyone ever told you that you look amazingly like a character called "Anna Marie" who was played by Marlo Thomas in a 1960s series, That Girl? She was also the producer of the show and the daughter of actor/producer Danny Thomas. The character was very bubbly and fun. Bob

Ashley, stay who you are and don't change for anyone.
Despite the state of music currently, you're in very good company with some of the great young female talent making it in Nashville, in particular Kacey Musgraves, Brandi Carlilse (sp?), and Margo Price. All three of these women write their own excellent songs and have blazed a trail for the new generation. I don't consider them sellouts. best, scott |
