Default Country Music - Film by Ken Burns

I am looking forward to seeing this film. It airs on PBS on September 15th.

https://www.pbs.org/kenburns/country-music

Ken Burns was on hand at San Quentin for a preview yesterday - 7/24. This is where Merle Haggard was an inmate when Johnny Cash did his New Year's Day concert there in 1959, which according to Haggard turned his life around.

I'm more a fan of Ken Burns than I am for country music so I look forward to seeing it.

I'm another Ken Burns fan. I heard an interview on the radio with him about his latest project about "Country Music"... He said it involved eight years of research to make the series. Burns said he is constantly asked to make a series about Rock & Roll... He said he has no desire to do so.....

Don, I think he did a series about rock and roll for PBS many years ago.

I'll be giving it a try. I go back and forth on Burns work personally, but he's obviously very invested in doing these things and I'll give this one a chance.

A couple of years back there was an excellent documentary series on American roots music and how it came to be recorded (not just "country", though most of the musicians had rural backgrounds) called American Epic. I thought it was excellent. Well worth seeking out for those interested in the subject while you're waiting.
