Update on my CA "OX"
It arrived very well packaged and HEAVY. It's case is black alligator grain genuine plastic. Between the weight of the case and the yet to be viewed "OX", I had to use my stronger right arm to navigate the steps down to my studio (man cave).
Time for the unveiling: it is black, it is heavy, it is gorgeous. Did I mention it is BLACK? The action is perfect and it holds pitch (or whatever you call it) all the way to the body. No damage to be seen although the soundboard is not a completely flat surface. I am pleased. The unveiling is over. Time to celebrate. I pulled a half empty (maybe I am a pessimist) bottle of Hogs Bourbon out of my secret place and poured myself two fingers of this nectar of the rednecks. As a rule, I do not drink by myself but my cats do not like bourbon. Hog's is soooo relaxing but I think I have lost weight. My two fingers must have become thinner. I will compensate. Time to tune her up. Hmmm, medium strings....no problemo. Did I mention the weight? Crap! First problem. I am built like a bowling ball and the available turf on the top of my right leg is minimal at best. Normally, this is not a problem but the surface on this guitar is slicker than monkey snot on a brass doorknob. I can fix this with the same stuff I put on my car's dashboard. Whew, first problem is overcome. Time to celebrate some more. Three fingers of Hogs Bourbon sounds about right. To be continued..... |

Interested to hear what you think! I am contemplating my first "full-size" CF purchase (I currently have an Emerald X7) and have been going back and forth between the Rainsong CH-series, Emerald X20 and the CA OX and GX guitars. I tend to doubt I'd be disappointed in any of them, but making up one's mind is not easy!

I like your style Brain, everything’s better when you are feeling “refreshed”.
Perhaps we can see some pics while you are still able to focus ? Cheers ! |

Congrats on the new acquisition! I haven't tried one myself, but several here use a Neck Up to keep their guitar in place on their lap. (I'm a strap kinda guy) Add my name to the list that would enjoy seeing photos of your OX.
Photos such as this are not acceptable... Enjoy your new guitar! |

You play guitar with those fingers??
Monkey snot should dry and become sticky enough to keep and OX from slipping and easier to open a door too I suppose.

Guess the bourbon did the trick. He did not get a chance to play yet.

WOW! Some hot rhyming going on there. Poor Braindead, now he has to unravel his fingers, learn to play the guitar, and write music for your lyrics. We may not hear from him for a while.

Private message to JBK. No one else is ALLOWED to read this.
JBK, I sending this to you as a private message. It is not my wish to stress you out or embarrass you....OK? You have already done sooo much for me and Slick. Would you please measure the bridge pins in your vintage OX for me??? |
