Kudos on such a score !
-most of the pawnshops I've seen lately might have a plastic ukulele or broken plywood guitar !

Congrats!

Funny but the best guitar scores I have made in pawn shops were all Westerly Guilds. I have grabbed three. All were in fine playing condition including a fairly hard to find transitional D-25 with the spruce top and arched back. They ranged in price from $100 to $225.

Locky-

They were asking 750 + tax for it. I have zero knowledge on vintage USA made Guilds and after hearing him describe everything with his Father I didn't feel comfortable negotiating so I just paid it and said thank you.

I wouldn't hesitate to pay that for a D-50.

I have a 'Blue Book' edition 11 and it values a 1977 Guild D-50 Bluegrass Special - East Indian Rosewood - in 'Excellent' condition at $2,000 - 2,500.
I'd say that one rates even higher.

Another beautiful guitar in your outstanding collection.

In my area, the internet isn't the reason you can't find a good deal on a decent guitar in the pawn shops...

The problem in every shop I've been in within a 100 mile radius is that half the guys working there play guitar, and if ANYthing worth having comes in, it NEVER gets past the employees...

Wow!
Excellent score!

I have almost the same guitar, a 1977 D-55 NT bought new.
The only difference is extra stupid bling.
Our guitars may share wood from the same trees.

They are glorious guitars!
Enjoy that baby!

You got a great deal for that. It is absolutely beautiful.
I love the Westerly Guilds.

I agree, its worth about double that, yet the seller got his asking price, so everyone's happy.
Ideal outcome, really.
