CD "showcasing" Australian guitar makers - Southern Crossing
Been meaning to post this for a while, just for interest's sake and have finally got A Round Tuit.
David Ross Macdonald recorded this CD ... http://www.waterfrontrecords.com/rel...roductID=65481 ... whilst travelling across the south of Australia visiting twelve luthiers, recording a track on an instrument from each. I came across the disc after buying a David Worthy guitar recently - my (brunette) guitar's blonde sister appears on it. All tracks are DRMcD compositions, most are in alternate tunings, and the playing's excellent. (Especially considering that in his "day job", he's a drummer. ) DRMcD's own website is here: http://www.davidrossmacdonald.com/ I don't know him personally, so this isn't a "commercial" - I just think the concept of the disc is a great idea that helps promote some excellent builders. Just as a footnote, I e-mailed DRMcD to ask whether he minded me using one of his pieces as meditative music during special services, and he wrote back very promptly saying he would be very happy for his music to be used for "such a good cause". Seems a really nice person, as well as an excellent player. |
