Question The Doyle of the Ivory

Who would you all consider to be your favorite technical pianists? I'm talking about pure performance ability, songwriting/arrangement skills aside.

I think Bruce Hornsby is an excellent player. He toured with the Grateful Dead for a few years after Mydland died. Not that the Grateful Dead were virtuosos or anything, but in addition to some of his great studio work, he could hold his own in any jam.

I have a lot of Piano Concertos. Although I can't recall any names, some of the classically trained folks absolutely blow me away.

I like some Elton John stuff... and I really like Floyd Kramer. It might be cramer, I'm not sure, but he has a unique sound..

My vote would be for Warren Bernhardt. But there's many pianists who are not household names who are amazing.

Well, obviously Art Tatum.
Ahamd Jamal is my personal favorite.
And of course Glenn Gould’s Goldburg Variations (55’), which are, in my opinion, the all time greatest musical performance of any kind.
Who’s this Doyle Dykes guy?
