Question Guild D-140 compared to Taylor 110e

Hello, I'm not trying to pit one guitar against the other; I just want to know if any of you have played both, and if so, what do you think of them? I was able to try the Taylor and I loved its tone, particularly its clear, powerful bass, which balanced out the Taylor brightness some people dislike. I've read that the Guild also has a sinewy bass. Unlike the Taylor, it lacks electronics, but I always play unplugged. Also, the Guild is all-solid wood and $50 cheaper.

Guild D-140
Solid Sitka spruce top, solid African mahogany back and sides L I N K

Taylor 110e
Solid Sitka spruce top, layered walnut back and sides L I N K

Thanks for reading.

The Guild is simply a whole lot more guitar for less money. I checked them out before I bought and it seemed like a no brainer to me.

That a beautiful photo of a beautiful guitar. Thanks for posting it.

On paper, the only thing leaning me towards the Taylor is its nut width of 1.69", as opposed to the Guild's 1.75." A pit bull bit off the tip of my fretting hand's index finger, so I prefer narrow necks.

I'll probably order the Guild D-140 from Guitar Center. If it doesn't work for me I'll return it.

Guild wins. Can never get past the complete lack of back bracing on the Mex Taylors

Thanks for your responses. I've just ordered the Guild D-140 from a store with an excellent return policy. I'll try posting a NGD photo when it arrives.

Well done, Leo! The D-140 is a fantastic guitar at an incredible price. Soundwise it might be on the bright side, but in a wonderful way. And it’s extremely responsive. I love it.
