Wow! Your swirling Desert Ironwood overlay is amazing, Mark. Has a kind of "Starry Night" feel.

Thanks Treenewt! It naturally goes with the fretboard and has a little extra because it’s the headstock.

Thanks Al Mojo! It looks even better in person.

Thanks for the comments!

Default Wrapping Up Neck

I'm finishing up the neck. The MOP fret markers are in:

I put bevels on the headstock overlay and backstrap. This makes the headstock look a little less chunky and shows off the Maple purfling better:

I made the Black Ebony and Maple truss rod cover and drilled out for the tuners:

I think these Scheller tuners are a wonderful match for this headstock and a dreadnought in general:

Glad to hear it! They are good people to deal with. It’s nice to deal with competent, interested individuals instead of faceless manufacturers.

The wide variety available when choosing tuners and components is a big plus. These are top quality tuners.

Thanks Treenewt. I am going with a little more subtlety on this dreadnought. It makes the little details more important

Default Finish Ready

Whoops! I mistakenly put this post on another current thread. I’m copying it here to retain the continuity of this thread.

I have my first Dryad dreadnought pretty much finish ready:

I'm not particularly a dreadnought guy, but this could win me over. Stunning guitar.

It's honestly a little weird seeing a dreadnought with Hatcher aesthetics. I'm not used to seeing those together and it's a fascinating intersection. Plus it's a real treat to see the full (pre-finish) glory of that Desert Ironwood in the context of the whole instrument. Great work, Mark!

Me either so there had to be some deviation from straight old time tradition for me to come out with a dreadnought. One was it couldn't be shaped like a cardboard box. Somewhat relatedly it had to be playable when sitting. So when I got the guitar to this point I was eager to sit down and get the feel of it.
I am happy with the result.

Good. Same 'ol, same 'ol is never weird is it? Thanks!

Thanks for commenting Scallywag! I've got two more Dryads in the works so I can keep filling in this thread while this one is going through the finish process.

Default Parting Shot

Before the finishing process begins here's one last picture of that incredible silking on the torrified Sitka top:

Gorgeous stuff Mark. I recently bought some Schallers. There is no face washer. Gotta be careful mounting those things. Any tips.
