Default Tascam DP 24

Tascam DP24sd gets my recommedation over a DAW based system.

The DP24 didn't exist when I purchased my Zoom R24, but I may well have went with the Tascam if it had. Whatever Tascam was offering at the time would only record at 16 bits, so that would have been a deal breaker for me. The DP24 records 24 bit audio so no problem there.

I strongly suspect that "editing" isn't much easier on the Tascam than it is the Zoom, so I wouldn't base my purchase on anything other than doing audio capture and porting the tracks to a computer to use a proper DAW for editing, topping, tailing, and final rendering of your completed edits.
