Default Has anyone used "Transferwise" for a sale.....international or other?

Hi,

I have an interested buyer on one of my items for sale, and they want to use Transferwise for payment, claiming that it's the least expensive, safest way for him to send money to me. (I'm in the US, he's in Singapore). I did some research, and it SEEMS legit, but I'm surprised I'd never heard of it before.

Anyone have any experience, good, bad or otherwise?

Thanks!

EEK!

A new payment thingie?
Shipping to another country?
You are brave.
No way I'd consider doing either, but that's just me.

I'm more of a closer-to-zero-risk kinda guy.
Craigslist only, in person only, cash only.

Good luck, hope it goes well for you.

I've used TransferWise to pay a friend who bought a camera for me in another country, and likewise he used it to pay me for some whisky I brought him from the airport. No problems with it in that respect.

I would be wary of using it for a purchase with an unknown person, at least until I investigated whether or not the transaction could be reversed after the goods had shipped.

I have also used it, I think Transferwise is not the concern, but the unknown in another country is?

I have used transferwise a few times now, and it had been seamless. Transactions usually completed within 3-4 hours. Previously, I had used XE.com for international payments, because of good currency rates & low transaction fees (way lower than wire costs from my bank, which often had the recipient's bank also charge receiving fees). XE.com still takes a few days to process. Transferwise is cheaper & faster, pulling from your bank account like a debit. I have used it to pay for goods purchased at auction house in the UK (I'm in the U.S.), and directly to parcel shipping companies to collect those goods and forward them to me. First rate service, & easily acceptable by the vendors I was dealing with.

The only issue would be the reliability of the person or company you're paying, as to whether the goods & services get provided.
