My first forum was a John Fogerty group and everyone had a name associated with a swamp or Creeedence tune. I was Green River Running because I owned a running store at the time. That host platform (I think it was Yuku) also hosted the UMGF at the time and that screen name automatically transferred there.
Then the JCF forum went down, and everyone had to rejoin with a new screen name. Since my knee was hurting at the time and I grew up in Louisiana, I picked Cypress Knee. Every few years I post something for sale here and on UMGF and it seems I always get called out for being a potential fraudster for listing the same item under two identities. CK/ a/k/a GRR

I was named after Steve Allen, a popular TV character in the 50's.
from wikipedia "The real origin of that nickname is from the Steve Allen Show (c.1957), which featured many great supporting characters, one of whom was Tom Poston, who would start his skits by saying to the host "Hi, ho, Stevearino!"

Mine is based on a game we would play during rounds at the hospital following a stressful time the night before: folks need to pick out what TV character reminded them of you and explain why. Hence, I was told I am like Gabrielle of Xena Warrior Princess, aka "Gabby."
the "84" because either (a) I was born in 1984 or (b) I graduated high school in 1984. you decide.  . Not offended either way

Mine came from a blues song I used to do called Mr Jelly. People I didn't know started calling me Mr Jelly. Some time later I hooked up with a harp player and we called ourselves Mr Jelly and Brother John. Aaaa the old days.

Earl....my first name, and 49 because I lived in Alaska (the 49th state) for years. Just plain "Earl" was already taken when I signed up, although I have never seen him on line since. I thought about using the tail number of my Cessna 177, but now that it is gone and I'm retired from flying, that would not make much sense anymore.

My knick name was stokes since 1971.When we went camping I was the "fire master",I always started the fires.One particularly cold morning still in our sleeping bags, one of the guys in a shivering voice said "cmom Mr stokes get up and stoke that fire"... it stuck.I became Mr Stokes.At the time the mayor of Cleveland was named Carl Stokes.My first name is Carl so that added to the fact that the name should stick.

Back in 2002, when I was just getting into the whole forum thing, I needed to choose a handle and was at a loss. Looking at my screen, I had a wallpaper with Senor Boombox on it, which was the name of the Disco Biscuits' latest album, so boombox I became and have used it everywhere since.
