Actually there was a limit run of first 250 Silver Sky guitars made that came with a special case.

The tungsten was the first one introduced in press release (two hours later PRS’s web went down because of traffic :-). I managed to get the first imported to the country, have it more than two years now.

Tuner buttons are looking cheap, but are very well made, precise and light. Pickup switch button broke after one week, guys from PRS sent me a new one, it broke two weeks later. Superglue, I am happy since then.

The tone through Fender Princeton is... right... that sixties stratocaster sound.. So congratulations once again!
Wow, read up on that a bit...Apparently they had a bad run of caps. The suggestion seems to be that the replacements they ship out now should not have the same problem, but I guess we will see.

I haven't heard many reports of that lately.

BTW, is yours a 2020 or earlier? You can tell by the first two numbers in the serial number on the back of the headstock. I ask because the necks on the 2020 models with rosewood fretboards are different than the first two years. The 2020 models with maple fretboards have the same neck as the earlier ones. But the 2020 rosewood neck has a bit less shoulder than the earlier ones, it's a bit rounder, but I believe similar depth. I wasn't crazy about the neck on mine, specifically because of the shoulder. I didn't really mind it but it was far from my favorite strat neck. I'd have probably liked the new profile more, but I never got a chance to check one out.

In any case, good luck again with it...

Mine is a 2019. It was made in the last quarter of the year. Surely by then they put the good caps on there ;-0

I checked my switch cap and it seems fine.

Congratulations! Very eager to try out the maple neck one, feel like adding a strat type guitar to the mix.

You should at least check one of these guys out for sure. I had looked at these guitars early on in my search and very quickly ruled them out only based on what I was willing to spend at the time. Then the right series of events and level of rationalization in my brain happened towards my getting one

Yep I thought I might not like it, but I have to admit the looks and the tone is growing on me - will give it a whirl when it comes to my local store!

I like the polar blue!

It is the same case, just the plaque is missing. They have introduced SS cases in 2019. And it is standard PRS case - which means very sturdy and heavy as hell. If I remember correctly there is a guy on a PRS forum who got his guitar back after a house fire... with a charred case, the guitar inside was intact :-)

I patiently wait (same as with a LJ36) for midnight rose with maple neck coming to the country to try it and maybe.....

We have similar tastes in guitars it would seem

The place where I bought this PRS had a midnight rose version of it as well.

It’s kind of nice that it is perfectly fitted for the sky. Most of the guitars in their line, even their crazier priced ones, use a case that is generic to a whole bunch of different guitars in the range....from what I gather...
