Default Got a PRS Silver Sky coming tomorrow.

I've never played one. I live in the North East of England, there are very few guitar shops these days. The two shops in Newcastle didn't have one is stock.

I'm sure I'll like it. Sounds great in the reviews. I like the idea behind it too.

Feels a bit like Christmas. I should grow up, I'm 51. Maybe next year!! ;o)

Anyone have one? Anything you'd like to share?

I don't have a guitar amp at the moment. So it'll be going into the Logic amp sims. I live in a semi detached house, so not sure an amp is practical. Unless I ask the neighbours to let me know when they're going out. They spend a lot of time at home. As do I. I has considered one of those Laney Ironheart tube amps for recording into logic. Not sure if I'll get better results and the computer sims. I also have revalver. Never used it on the Mac.

Thanks in advance.

It's objectively an incredible guitar. Subjectively, we all have our own idea of what a strat is supposed to sound like, and the Silver Sky doesn't have enough quack in the 2 & 4 for me. But lot's of people love 'em, and they're not wrong. Definitely worth checking out...

Congrats man. Recently purchased a Strat-type guitar myself. Hopefully will get it this week some time. These Silver Skys are nice for sure.

Enjoy!

That guitar in that Nebula finish or whatever looked amazing...special edition that sold out quick, and that people are now trying to make massive profits on...

I have not played one.. Back when I was close to a local shop they would have them pre sold before they came in. Call me jaded since I have a PRS IMO they make outstanding guitars and I have no doubt the Silver Sky is one .

As far as amp perhaps consider a low watt tube amp with a Head Phone out for silent practice and will still make great sounds when the neighbors aren't around
Something like the Bugera 5 watt combo or 20 watt head are real value priced

I am sure they are exceptional guitars. I just would never get used to that look. That neck and headstock on that body just does not compute for me. It just looks wrong somehow.

To each their own. I think it is a great looking guitar myself. With a PRS spin.

Fortunately sound and playability have nothing to do with "looks"
Fender head stocks have always "looked" unbalanced, awkward, some out of proportion, and all just plain weird to me, and yet I just got a Tele. Where as PRS headstocks "look " balanced, proportional, and just look "right" . Even the flipped version on the Silver Sky.

First, congrats on what I'm sure will be a great instrument!

To the opposite of how u feel, I love Fender headstocks and the PRS headstock is what kinda turns me off those guitars. But hey, to each his own. I wish u all the best with new PRS.

Hi, thanks for all your comments/feedback.

It was nicely made, although it should have been at that price.

It's going back. Very noisy, 50hz hum even on the in-between position. The neck was nice and it did play nicely. My Strat copy has EMGs, so I'm spoilt for quietness. I still like EMGs.

I found it frustrating to get nice sounds out of it consistently. To be fair. I only tried it through amp sims in logic, THU and Revalver. The G string warbled a lot with some settings. There are plenty of people making great music with sims though. I nearly bought a Laney IRT 15w studio amp. But wasn't convinced that would make a difference.

Just goes to show, you should trust your first instinct. ;o)

Well that’s a bit of a bummer. I’m sure it was something simple.

Ah well.

First off it was not me that just got a new PRS. In fact if you read my post I just got a new Tele (yes Fender) and yes it's a great instrument, ( one that I am glad I did not pass on because of its weird headstock) for me it is Tone and playability, which are not really effected by head stock shape . Which was the point I was making......... Ya to each their own, as self limiting as that might be
