Mandolin Pick?

Do you all have any pick recommendations for the mandolin? I've been trying stuff on guitar and want to do the same for Mandolin. I know that blue chip picks are a popular one, and if I don't end up satisfied, I might buy one of those. However, what else do you guys like? What do you find gives you a nice fat round sound? I greatly appreciate any advice that you all offer.

For what it is worth, I am mainly playing bluegrass stuff on a Kentucky KM150.

I would try the Primetone Semi-round pick. Cheap enough to experiment with.

Not much in the way of thickness options, but it's a shape mandolin folks will work a standard triangle into to give them a "rounder" sound. You could always get their (or other makes) triangles in heavier gauges and round to suit, as well, while you're on the hunt.

I alternate between Dunlop Gator Grip, which seem to tame the highs a bit, and Golden Gate MP12s.

I much prefer the Blue Chip TPR 40 over the Primetones but as others have said at under $5 a pack it's worth trying. You can also experiment with different shapes, thicknesses, and materials to see what suits you best. Picks made by Charmed Life Picks get good reviews here but I have never tried them.

For a long time I hesitated buying the Blue Chip because it is expensive, but I'm glad I finally took the plunge.

For a mellow sound, I like the David Grisman "Dawg" pick. It is especially good for starting out and tremolo.

I've found standard Fender pointy guitar picks can sound good too. I even play fingerstyle at times.

Primetones to me are bright. Perfect for my 1913 A1. Bluechips or Wegens for others, in that order. Buy a BlueChip thicker that you would for guitar, and get one rounded corner so you can see if you like that.

I used Wegen M150 for years. Now I like the Bluechip TP-1R 60 (one rounded corner) better. Sounds incredible close to a tortoise shell pick and I use the other two corners for guitar. Very natural sounding stuff, and for the first time a pick for both instruments.

I use the same picks that I use for guitar.
-Wegen TF140
-A variety Primetones (1.5mm mostly)
-D'Andrea Radex 1.25 large triangle (I add a bevel to the corners, and I round one of the corners just for fun.
-Dunlop 208 (a little more dull sounding than the others)
-and other picks between 1.25 and 2mm. I add a bevel if they don't come with one.

Hey everyone, thank you so much for your recommendations. It's been a busy weekend and I have not replied yet, but I plan to try a lot of these. I will probably just start with a wegen and primetone due to price and then shell put for a Blue chip or two if I am still not satisfied. . Eventually, I'll probably run through each all of the recommendations out of curiosity.
