Grover Sta Tites for tapered headstock??
Hey all,
I've got an Epiphone Masterbilt EF-500 that is in need of a new set of tuning machines. They've got the factory stock Grovers sta tites which I'm looking to replace with brand new equivalents but it seems that the guitar's tapered headstock means that the tuner shafts are all different heights between tuners # 1/6, 2/5, and 3/4. Can anybody help out with a product code or item for this one? It seems like the majority of Grover Sta Tites for sale are all 6 identical tuning machines for standard headstocks. Thanks! |

Finding that hard to picture - do you have photos?

Here's an example of the tuners installed incorrectly. As you can see the 2 and 5th tuner shafts are taller than the rest. Like some older Gibsons the headstock tapers out towards the logo, so the tuning machines seem to accommodate this by becoming shorter as you go up. I'm having trouble finding a set of (brand new) tuners that also do this. Last edited by nchin241; 09-01-2020 at 12:01 PM. |

Gotoh makes machine heads that have progressively shorter posts. Look at their website for choices. They intend them for fender style necks, but they’d Likely work in your application.

Golden Age tuners from StewMac are available as staggered posts but I believe they only come with off-white buttons. They are replacements for early Gibson guitars tapered headstocks. I replaced the standard height Golden Age tuners on my Waterloo WL-12Mh with a set and they look and work great.
