Martin, I don't hear stereo at all here. This track is mono. Sure you panned the mics to each side?

You're stereo now. The right channels around 3db softer than the left, so not very balanced.

I'm still having a problem posting a stereo file. for some reason even though it's stereo here, the file that turns up on Bandcamp is summed to mono. I'm not sure if it's Bandcamp or Audition that's doing it. I have to delve into Audition and see what's up.

The whole point of recording is stereo is to get a nice stereo image. I'd take your time and get something that works well, otherwise mono will sound better. The sound I'm hearing is very bright, and rather harsh. I suspect it's not the mics. I am getting stereo thru bandcamp with your last two posts.

I'm not getting stereo thru Bandcamp, everything is mixed to mono for some reason. I tried making a recording going back and forth between mics....perfect stereo here in Audition, but when I upload to Band Camp, it plays in mono....I'm stumped.

Yes I can adjust the mic levels here, just haven't got to that point yet....I haven't EQ's anything yet either....I'm just doing very rough demo's to give an idea of the new mic's capabilities. I know my playing sucks.

What I'd do to test a mic is to play something *very* simple to start with. Strum a single chord and let it ring out. Get your performance out of the equation. And for stereo, bring up some VU meters to make sure the sides are evenly balanced, otherwise the results are too distracting and aren't showing what the mic can do. I'd methodically, try different placements, 24 inches away, 18 inches, 12 inches, 8 inches, whatever. Also various patterns, XY, ORTF, etc. I'd be listening for how the mic acts as far as things like proximity effect, noise, and also how the stereo image sounds (which is why it's important to get that right if you're going to do stereo). This all takes time and effort, which is why I don't bother playing more than a few chords - just enough to have something to listen back to, and something where I don't get distracted by "oh, I could have played that better", and so on. And EQ comes way, way last. With good mics, well-placed, you shouldn't need EQ to sound good, it's just a fine-tuning thing, much much later.
