Assuming this is something I’d have to do, I have no idea what you mean. Just the idea of having to change the addresses of 500 is so pages seems entirely daunting to me. If I did do that, wouldn’t that mean that all of my forum history would become inaccessible due to being miss-addressed?

You wouldn't need to change the URLs manually in order to change over to HTTPS. Most web hosting services make this painless. For hardcoded URLs there are simple tools available to make this change en masse in any decent CMS (content management system.) Regarding forum history, that content is still there. You'd just be routing that newly-secure traffic to the updated address, so http links will automatically redirect to https. Your web host should be able to help you, should you decide to go that way.

Exactly! Your webhost should be able to do this for a few buck and little other effort. Explain that you need all prior links to be redirected to the new https links. A phone call or e-mail ought to do it.

A sure sign of the holiday season is nothing gets done as quickly as expected, at least for me. I do have five coats of Varnish on the JB-16, only one less than there should be at this point, but CN#3 is far from strung. It got inlays and frets, as the following pictures demonstrate, but no bridge yet, so can't be strung.

Adjacent to the heel on the driver's side, it is 81.5 mm overall. It is wedged 7 mm in the lower bout, so slightly thicker of the off side.

I do not wish to rain on anyone’s parade, but I do want to inform those of you who are following me faithfully enough to be reading this of a thing I have observed about Pernambuco, one of my top favorite tone woods.

I have made roughly seventeen P guitars from wood extremely close to perfectly quartersawn, and about 7 from wood that has part of the back flatsawn. They all sound terrific to me, but that is not the story here. Not a single one of the quartersawn pernambuco guitars has developed a single spontaneous crack. One does have a crack, but it is from mishandling: I did it myself. That is not the story either, it is what was expected.

What was not expected is that ALL of the flatsawn pernambuco guitars that I have made have developed spontaneous cracks exactly in the flatsawn section of their backs. That’s all of the flatsawn, and none of the quartersawn. One does not need a degree in statistics to jump to the conclusion that using flatsawn Pernambuco is beyond risky. In my experience it is a near certainty that unless one takes serious measures with humidity control such a guitar WILL crack.

Smile Very Interesting!

Remember colonel Klink in Hogan's Heroes? VEDDDY INTERISTINK!!!

Thanks for the hot tip, Bruce. So many folks raving about P. And with good reason, no doubt!

I thought it was really cool that your personal flatsawn Pernambucano Guitar developed all those cracks, but still sounds fantastic. That speaks volumes right there, doesn't it?

No problems whatsoever with my 2009 Sexauer. This Pernambucano "0"sounds better than ever as it approaches its 11th birthday. This was the final guitar Bruce made that year. Pictures of this little beauty can be viewed at

It has been pointed out to me that at least one person has interpreted my "Flatsawn Pernambuco" post in this thread as a possible dig at another nearby build thread. While I had seen a picture of that guitar's back, forwarded to me by another person, I did not mean to direct my observations in that direction. Indeed, I did not know whose build it was at that time. My post actually grew out of a conversation I had with another luthier working with a set of flat sawn P, my friend Ben Wilborn. My conversation with Ben included all of the information in my above post, and much more.
