It is going to be very cool! I am appreciative of everyone's offers to finish it... the Brazilian originally came from Brock so that was a sign to me that was where it needed to go.

I met a guy through a guy I met at an AGF BBQ who has an Omega creation series for sale possibly. Very nice guy and he has sold off almost his entire collection for medical expenses for his niece or nephew. If anyone is really interested and has a fair offer I might be able to pass contact info on once I check with him.

Creation Series Koa Redwood Omega GA Cutaway.

Funny how many guitar builders (and I include myself loosely in that group) used to use weights to help our bodies look better.... and now we use them to build guitars.

I too have a large amount of weights used for various stages of my builds.

Thankful I didn't throw them away.

Looking good Keith!

We are readying the neck and the top to send to Larry Robinson to have him work on a custom inlay...

Some preliminaries by Larry:

And one more

Keep in mind these are his initial drafts.... we want him to spill the leaves out of the rosette and onto the soundboard and also to perhaps overflow the leaves on the headstock over the edge too.

Brock is really doing a beautiful job so far.

Is there any significance to the leaf inlay Keith or is it just for aesthetic reasons.

Looks great by the way

Not any significance... Kevin Gallaher and I thought a maple leaf themed build would be artsy and unusual.

Nice job all - Keith, Brock, and anticipating Larry's inlays.

Thanks for posting!

I'm watching this thread with great interest. Thank you for posting pictures of the neck before it was carved. I've been wondering what orientation the grain had to be when making laminated necks.

BTW, I think those inlays are going to be beautiful and as I watch maple leaves fall from the trees in my front yard I find it aesthetically appropriate. What materials will he be using?

They will be inlaid out of paua... what color remains to be seen. I had originally envisioned a vine of sorts but maple leaves don't grow on vines so it is more of a tree layout kind of with the leaves falling.

I think that's going to look great, Keith. I've always liked leaves in guitars. Maybe because Fall is my favorite season . Have you thought of doing the leaves in a more organic look, in different woods? I think it's back to my love of the fall, but those rich, earth tones and woods are very comfortable for me. Anyway, it's going to be awesome.

Ah. Well, to each their own. I like how some inlay artists use the lustrous qualities of paua abalone for water themes. Personally, when I think of falling leaves I think of warmer colors though. For instance, I'm looking out my front window right now and I have a yard full of wonderful golden maple leaves, purple dogwood leaves, bright red Russian maple leaves and orange pin oak leaves.

OT: ...which reminds me why I don't like fall because the wind is starting to really blow and those leaves are going to be everywhere so I'm going to have to RAKE them out of my yard, the bushes, you name it.
