As I said in another thread, I’m a recent convert to Furch (expecting a Vintage 2 OM next week) and hoping to read more posts here from fellow owners.

This isn’t exactly what I had in mind!

I can also see how the OP would be upset by this. After having read the post and watched the YouTube video from Heartbreaker, it would seem to me that it's a combination of a "curious" choice by Furch and the dealer jumping the gun.

However, my two transactions this year with Furch and two separate dealers went very well. I wouldn't completely dismiss Furch, even with this strange selection process for this collectible. Maybe it's a blessing in disguise in that you wouldn't have to fork out $8k for an ash back/sides guitar. You can most likely get a REALLY nice Rainbow custom for about half that price.

Others have wondered about ash as a tone wood. I'm wondering about the term "premium tone woods" used in the ad. I understand the historical significance of using a tree in Furch's courtyard. But my impression is that, when selecting "premium tone woods", luthiers can search through large stacks to get the pieces they want. What are the chances that this one random tree is worthy of the $8K price tag?

Maybe this is similar to Taylor's Pallet Guitar, one of which is currently listed on reverb for $17K. But at least in Taylor's case they admit the back/sides are not premium tone woods - their point was to show that the luthier matters at least as much as the wood.

I like Furch. They make nice guitars. I like how you can configure just about everything the way you want it, and their prices still seem pretty reasonable. But this whole anniversary guitar thing has the aroma of snake oil.

It’s not beanie babies, but there you go.

I don’t know, but aren’t a lot of collectibles like that? The value largely being in the eye of the beholder/…

Will they have a problem selling 15 of these in the USA? Probably not, but probably not to the majority of folks responding to this thread, that’s all.

Exactly, it's like limited edition Rolex watches, some people want to buy exclusivity but they are probably not serious guitar players.

From the link above:

The remaining 39 pieces will be for sale and only existing Furch guitar owners will be able to buy them.

Sorry, no auditions, no 500-word essays on "Why I love Furch"

The US will be getting 15 of those 39.

Anybody here seriously think those 15 won't get snapped up within minutes?

You dodged a bullet. Got your money back and can move on. There are other guitars to enjoy.

Holy Cats! That price…

$8k would have been a steal.

Not me—there’s already someone in the comments on the Heartbreaker video who owns several Furch guitars, two being limited editions, and wants one of these. That’s their target demographic, right there.

Questionable business practices aside, the whole idea of limited edition guitars has always kind of cracked me up. You see them on Craigslist all the time - “limited edition, only 1 of 50 Harley Davidson guitars made!” and it’s just a $150 guitar that happens to have some Harley branding on it. You’ll even see it in the classifieds sometimes - the only mahogany parlor this guy ever built! One of only 30 of this tonewood combination to ever come from this company! On and on. I’ve never understood this as a sales point. Guitars that are both rare and desirable don’t need to be sold that hard.

I wonder how many of their guitars you need to own to be competitive. I currently have 3. 2018 LTD, Rainbow series 12 string (custom ordered while working in Prague) and a little Jane,,, all lefties. My 2018 is the only lefty made in that run

Yes, a steal... but was it the guitar or the buyer's money that gets stolen?
