Default L R Baggs M80 V Takamine Tri-Ax 2

Morning All

So, according to the documentation the Takamine Tri-Ax 2 pickup employs L R Baggs exclusive patented Tri-Axial Dynamic Technology. Does anyone know if in reality this is identical to the M80? It certainly looks the same apart from the colour.

Thanks

It seems to be an M80 in black packaged with a cable to go to the Tak preamp.

The Triax is a M80 that is tweaked frequency wise to work as a second source with the either the Cooltube or CT4DX preamps as I have discussed in other threads... so no they are not exactly the same. I have used my M80 tho as a second source with my Cooltube.

I know my original Tri-Ax pickups were totally indistinguishable from the M1A other than the active/passive switching options on the Tri-Ax. I owned two Tri-Ax pickups and one M1A, and they were all very good sounding and well put together pickups, and sounded so similar (with the Tak in active mode) that I would wager that it would take an oscilloscope to tell them apart.

It's interesting that the Tri-Ax 2 has been voiced differently to the M80, I'd love to try them both out sometime.

"The TriAx is a FREQUENCY MODIFIED version of the M1/M80 formulated to work specifically with the Takamine Palathetic Pickup and Cool Tube system."
