It was used extensively for jewelry in the first half of the 20th Century, and if you go eBay or Etsy and search for "casein jewelry" you'll find hundreds of fine examples. Lucky for us, it also makes on heckuva guitar pick, with the tone and feel remarkably close to genuine tortoise shell.
