Ashley, I just had another thought.

When I was in a sales career, one of the main issues was overcoming objections. It's a big deal. Right now you're dealing with people who OBJECT to your witty and intelligent lyrics.

The best way in a sales presentation to deal with this is early on, as soon as it comes up in conversations. Get it out in the open, expose it, deflate it and dismiss it.

It's your career, and you must make your own decisions. If I kept hearing this, I'd go right up the middle with it and write a song about it.

"They told me to dumb down my lyrics
But I guess I'm just too stupid for my britches...."

something like that.

I'm also thinking of that wonderful line from Kacey Musgraves' "Pageant Material," where she says:

I'd rather lose for what I am
Than win for what I ain't

Get a little sassy. Sass attracts attention.

Memmer

Wonderful performance!

I'm a big Taylor fan, but the Grand Auditorium series doesn't strike me as a great strumming guitar.
Regardless of the Pickup system I think a dreadnought or at least something bigger like the Grand Symphony series might make for a better strummer.

Welcome Ashley....You are a breath of fresh air and a nice counter to us old guys.
Life is a journey...not a guided tour. You are right to make your "own" music.

You’re very talented, and I agree that you should remain true to who you are, and the music that’s within you. I wish you the best of luck in your musical endeavors.

I can now say that I knew Ashley before she became famous.
Great song and video.
You have a great future in music.

I listened to Ashley's new album on a live stream from public radio last night....several really good tunes, my favorite being "Looking for America".....very well done.

Welcome! You know, I've been listening to country music for a few years now and I long for more "intelligent" lyrics. Good on you, keep up the good work!

Interestingly enough, the title of her new album is Shades of Blue
