Default Foot Percussion Device - Looking for Ideas

Hi folks,

Been playing a lot of guitar at home lately (seated) and find myself rocking heel-to-toe to the beat on my simple OnStage footrest. Footrest legs are leaving the ground. Got me wondering if there is a foot percussion device out there that is for this purpose. I've experimented on and off with my stomp box which, to me, is something - but rather "tap tap tap" in sound. Would like something both for home and gigging use.

What do you folks use or might suggest ?

THANKS!

A tambourine works for me. You can get as elaborate as you want to devise some sort of fulcrum to bounce it over.

I sometimes use a tambourine at home. Adds a little something extra.

I use a Roland SPD-One:

It's versatile enough for acoustic accompaniment. I kick it during a couple Mumford and Sons songs and a few others we perform. It also has 1 slot for a user-defined sound playback. I set it up so that it also runs into my looper pedal to make beat loops, but it takes extreme coordination!

Check out Chris Smither for what you can do with just a piece of plywood.

Farmer Foot Drums (https://www.footdrums.com) can take you as far down that rabbit hole as you want to go.

These are some great ideas. I've been wondering how to add some drum/rhythm to my guitar/singing arrangement and here are some choices. Thanks for starting this thread and thanks to those of you who've shared.

Because I usually gig on drums I have a Roland Handsonic HPD-20 with bass drum and hi hat triggers for very small stages. It is so small that I add it to my acoustic set and use it with guitar. All in all I have $1000 in the set up so it's pretty much just for those that want to double on percussion.

A kick drum. Sometimes called a bass drum on a drum set.

There’s a device called a “Porchboard” that might be what you have in mind.
