Default "Mercy, Mercy, Mercy" - Joe Zawinul - fingerstyle solo guitar

Hi friends of fingerstyle guitar music,

this is my arrangement of the jazz standard "Mercy, Mercy, Mercy", one of Joe Zawinul´s greatest hits. He wrote
this tune in 1966, before he and wayne Shorter founded the group "Weather Report", one of the most important
and influencing jazz fusion bands ever since.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3U4IJ7qQWGQ

Zawinul wrote, this tune should not be played too fast - although the groove moves so that musicians tend
to get faster....
As always, I tried to get the feeling of that tune into a fingerstyle solo guitar version - and here is my version
of it - and I hope you like it...

greetings from Germany
Gerhard

I used to play that one in a band many years ago. Sounds great...your arrangement really captures the groove.

That’s great. I’ve always loved the original Cannonball Adderley Quintet live recording.

I'll admit my ignorance by saying I didn't know the song (I think not anyhow).
But I really enjoyed your playing.

Hi Picking Moose,
well, one can not know every music tune around the world. But I am happy, that with my interpretation I was able to show you that big composition of Joe Zawinul and most important - you enjoyed that tune....
greetings from Germany - Gerhard
