Thanks to this thread I now have a sable making its way to my home !!!.....should be here on Tuesday.....Only problem is the wifey doesn't know yet …..Waiting for the right time to break the news to her...lol

Take a page from those trashy pulp novels (or Perry Mason shows) and get an apartment to put up your Sable. Then make excuses to go out and visit "her" to play for a while.

Your wife might be VERY relieved when she finds out that "she" is not another woman, but instead "just another guitar".

This might work, as long as the sable doesn't mind sharing the appartment with the emerald harp guitar.....the wife will also be happy that the emerald isn't taking up one of the living room couches 24/7 anymore.

You give it to her as a surprise gift and then she can barter it to you for special favors.

Not sure I can thrive in such a complex relationship....Im just a simple guy who loves music and nice guitars.

Neither could I, which is why my wife always knows what I am planning to buy and we are sure we have the cash, BEFORE I even start looking. The same holds true for any of her purchases. I would never advise anybody to keep secrets from a spouse because that is a sure way to cause serious trouble in a marriage.

Of course, you could just wrap the guitar in Christmas or birthday wrapping, casually lay it on the front doorstep, but only for a moment so it doesn't get taken. Then, suddenly "find" it and exclaim "For me! You shouldn't have". Your wife says "I didn't". You say "You did too!", and back and forth until you both get too tired to continue pursuing the issue.

Seriously though....this thread really did help me tremendously since i was so torn between getting another emerald or going for the sable....you guys helped me decide something I had been struggling with for months....Thanks especially for the honest review of the sable from forum members
