Wow, I thought I was getting jaded but I'm going to enjoy this build! Congratulations !

The Malachite/Manchinga combo is strong, I only have one experience with Manchinga in one of Jason Kostal's guitars (I believe it was the second MDW he made) but it was a good one. I know Mike Greenfield has built with it too but I never got the chance to play that one.

Mike Baranik's website has been historically "not great" whereas his guitars are wonderful. I think he's got that the right way around. I enjoy following him on instagram for his electric builds too. Lots of fun!

Your Meridian build was one of my favorites on the AGF and inspired me to look into Mike's work! Thanks for commenting...

Default Sides are in!

Mike uploaded a few more pics, so time for an update.

Forgot to mention in the side bending post that Mike uses laminated sides on the Meridian--in this case the inner lam is Wenge. We plan on having some other Wenge appearances within the build that will show up later.

I love the lines of the Meridian--especially the shape of Mike's florentine cutaway.

Loving the looks of things so far!

Thanks for following along!

They always seem to look bigger to me in the construction photos. But yes, it is a wee bit larger than the Baranik Blue Tesla model!

Hey Mike--thanks for checking it out! It's been a long time coming, but this Machinga really makes it worth the wait. Should be spectacular under finish--can't wait...

Default Back is braced!

Mike made the progress on the MMM and sent me some pics...

Looks like he's got a batch of 3 going right now.

EDIT: Asked Mike about the back bracing material--it's another Peruvian wood (as is the Machinga) called Achihua...

Loving the looks of this Machinga!

Thanks for checking it out! Cheers...

That Machinga is mesmerizing! Hope you are able to get some playing done in between the gazing at that back.

You'll have to stop posting Nemoman. Here I am with a Baranik 00 in koa only two months old, but your build makes me want something in manchinga too!

Seriously though, keep the images coming .

looking good K!!! I haven't taken time to log on in a while, but I'll be back for some tasting now that I have something specific to look for!!

Took a couple of you at the shop in Oct... playing my pumaquiro parlour (what is it with South American alliteration???!!!) and the afore-mentioned spectacular cedar / tree Honduran mahogany Meridian. I'll get those posted as soon as I can resize them....

Cheers!

Phil
