I have seen Billy (William Apostol) many times here in northern MI and really enjoy his music. He will be playing in my back yard (literally) on August 17 & 18 at the Hoxeyville Music Festival. Looking forward to it.
BTW he is a very humble guy a a hoot to hang out with.

I'd never heard of him prior to this thread, so I went and checked out a couple of his videos with his band. I think he's a GREAT talent.
Yeah, he's kind of a hot dog onstage, but so was I at that age. When you're a good young player, there's an element of: "Hey, girls! Watch THIS!" It sure worked for me, and I'm not as talented as he is. I'm certain that the compliments from the breathless young women who rush up to talk to him after he finishes his sets mean a lot more to him than the mutterings of a bunch of disgruntled old coots on a guitar forum do. Just a thought... Wade Hampton Miller |

I say more power to the guy. I suspect he's going to continue to get better and better as the years go by.

I have read that Billy Strings and Mollie Tuttle live together. Both are sponsored by Preston Thompson guitars. A lot of good guitar picking being played in that house hold.
If one wants to look at his lyric writing talent just lookup the lyrics to "While I'm Waiting Here". He may play longish sessions, play bluegrass on stage in a rock and roll manner but in the end he brings the people off of their seats with his explosive performance style.

I rather like the fact that he seems to enjoy getting to play music for a living. So many look like they’re sucking on lemons. Enjoy it. You get to do something most of us can only dream of.

Billy Strings! I wish I could play as good as he does and that includes having his ability to overplay. Give him a few more years to mature and he'll please everyone with a mixture of great playing and knowing when to overplay a tune.

Wow! Very talented young man! Did somebody really say: "He's not there yet"?
Boy, I wish I could play like him. I'd probably 'overplay' a bit too!! scott |

Remember Billy Carter, Jimmy Carter's underachieving alcoholic younger brother?
When I saw the thread title for this thread, I instantly thought of Billy Beer: Billy Carter and his beer I thought: "Okay, we've had Billy Beer, now maybe it's time for Billy Strings!" whm |
