tried out Audacity
I downloaded it and learned how to use it to trim beginnings and endings, and add silence and boost levels. Took almost no time to figure it out. I'm quite happy with it.

Cool. Did you figure out how to export your files as mp3 format yet? You'll need to find, download to a known location, and access (only once) a file known as "lame"

I have no idea what you are talking about.

After you get your song the way you want it in Audacity, you need to save it in a format people can listen to. Go to File > Export Audio.
I just discovered that the latest version of Audacity no longer needs the LAME mp3 encoder. Apparently the patent expired and now it is built in to Audacity. So, J-Doug, you no longer have to have an idea what YamahaGuy is talking about. |

I'd export a wav file.
