You can always go visit it and your Uncle too!
not quite the same thing... But I might have to get me an x7 so I can give a guitar (not the Emerald) to someone....

The memory of your kind gesture will always give you a good feeling. Guitars can be replaced, what you did, not so much.

All I can say is wow, thank you all for your comments. There's way too many for me to single people out so I'll simply say some of the comments really made me laugh and some were very sincere. I read them all and I appreciate them all.
The title of the thread is of course a little misleading as I'm sure most of you are aware when the answer is a big YES. There's a lot more to the story as well like he just had surgery and is of course feeling a little down (depressed) and this gift gave him a big boost upwards. His wife sent me a few txt messages this morning shortly after I started this thread that watered my eyes. Life is too short to be pondering over small things such as guitars. The happiness of family and friends is far more important. |

Might be the pain meds' influence, but my heart could not be more full after reading this thread. My dear ol' departed Mother used to tell me, "If you have the choice to do good, do good." This was an incredibly generous thing you did for your Uncle. If you are in a position to replace it (if that is your desire), you did the right thing. If you are not in a position to replace it, it is beyond generous.
Thanks for sharing this. |

This morning as I created this thread I was close to deleting it. I'm glad I decided not to. It got more responses than I could have imagined and all positive. There's a lot of words of wisdom in here. I don't see another X30 in my near future but who knows what the future holds. I'm still blessed with other awesome guitars to keep me going. I know my uncle will enjoy that guitar for years to come and that makes me happy. I have no regrets about it at all. |

Heart-warming story! Thanks for sharing. You’re an awesome nephew. Your Uncle was probably a great uncle to you too...

I would like to thank you all again for your comments. I read all of them a few times and like I said before some made me laugh hard and some were very deep. |

Definitely! There is nothing more satisfying than making others happy. I believe we can take that good will with us in the next life, not material "stuff."

Wow, what a great story! You know, we can't solve world peace... all we can do is try to make our little corner of the world a better place. And you did that! Puts a smile on my face.

Maybe the veneer is unique but the next X30 will sound the same.. that is the beauty of carbon. They are not "that kind" of Guitar like those old Martins and Gibson's that take time to age and are kind of irreplaceable.
