Dominic The Donkey is the absolute worst, followed by Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer.

There are some awful Christmas songs, and many on my hit list have already been mentioned here, but one of the things that really tweaks me is when people butcher their choice of chords in their arrangements. Even if you only know 3 chords, you can place them where they make sense. Whoever hires the music for most Hallmark movies, for example, should be in a different line of work.
I am a harmony junkie, and have been since I was 4. Arrangements don’t have to be ornate or complex, but anyone who claims to be a musician should know the difference between a dominant chord and a plagel chord, even if they don’t know the terminology. John |

oops. Originally I said I didn't like silent night. I do like silent night, it's away in a manger I don't like.

I don't know. But I do know I like the old boomer classic Christmas songs that I grew up with. I'm okay with that.

All of them, but that M. Carey song should be buried. I cringe every time I hear it, which is as little as possible.
On the other hand I have seen It's A Wonderful Life 60+ times and I still cry. So I'm not a grinch. It is simply that I have never been a big fan of Christmas music.

What I dislike is a version of a Christmas carol, or any song, that doesn't resemble the original to the point of not realizing what it is until you hear the refrain.

We have a bunch of Christmas CDs that my wife plays all month long. One of my favorites is John Denver's Christmas album.
A bunch of great traditional tunes, except for one: "Please, Daddy, Don't Get Drunk This Christmas." A sad song, a real bummer. Hate it. He was such an upbeat guy that I'm surprised that he even recorded it.
