Not delivering a package and and some deliveries not going well are the exceptions, and it bothers me too when those instances happen.

If you want or expect the highest tiers of service including to set or flexibility with delivery times and requires signature packages you have to pay for it.

I hope you can understand, including how an Asperger's brain otherwise just sees logical fallacies in some of the arguments.

My advice is sign up for a free UPS and FedEx account even if you don't have much plan or intention to use it because more and more that will let you arrange delivery options.

Good luck.
I get there are other services... I have both accounts.

I'm saying on the last 2 attempts with signatures, they did not do their job. This means they are not doing their jobs appropriately. It has nothing to do with service levels.

Hence, they are not good if they cannot do their job.

I've only had things shipped through FedEx a couple times in the past few years, but I've had good luck with them. A recent guitar purchase from Sweetwater actually got here a day early. Though after reading through this thread, I consider myself lucky.

PSA. An email I got this AM was promoting this system that I suggested. It encouraged letting staff and individuals know. I don't find it as convenient as some where I can set delivery times even without the end user having a higher tier of service.

https://www.fedex.com/en-us/delivery-manager.html

I have total empathy with the frustration when this stuff goes wrong, and hope it's understood that when you are getting and sending packages at scale you know it's not all failure. It's not even close to much failure but we are prone to being influenced by cognitive biases.

Glad the package arrived safely from its extended tour of the U.S.

I just had a package ship from TX to CA, and after two days, it took a long weekend at the FedEx facility in Palm Springs. It was a pool robot, so perhaps it was swayed by the warmer weather. After a four day delay, it delivered, but sadly, it may be defective and need to get a replacement shipped out.

This also reminds me of a past job, where I worked for a major chemical company, importing some extremely hazardous products into our country. Somehow, a carrier was given the billing address instead of the shipping address, and the driver called me (somehow getting my name through a corporate switchboard), asking for directions. He was about 4 miles away from my office with a tanker full of an organic chemical, which would wipe out a roomful of humans with only a shot glass full of the product. Thankfully, I answered and sent him back to his dispatcher, who was supposed to send him to the plant in WV, where it could be received safely.

U.S. Customs once asked for this same product, as part of their routine sample testing requests, since we were a foreign company. We had to call them and explain that we didn't know how to extract a 2-4oz sample, and how, even that small amount could kill everyone in their lab. They called back the next day and confirmed that the request was no longer necessary.

It's great. Very substantial, comfy and the Feng shui is right on the money for my cabin...

I have had wonderful experiences, as well as horrific "I'll never ship with you again" experiences with DHL, UPS USPS and FedEx.

No one's perfect...

If I had to choose between a package being trashed or late, I'll take late every time....
