'Only one' seems like a heartless proposition for anyone to suggest........
But..... If forced to pick an 'End of Days' guitar, it would be my Cocobola/Koa Taylor Fall Ltd.

If I had to choose .. It would be my 10 year old J-45.
It is amazing to play and the sound is "what I've always wanted to hear". It complements my voice and records really well too. Wouldn't sell or trade it for anything.... Well at least as of this moment |

My Taylor 512e. It is a 2016 that has been revoiced. Much deeper bass and great dry articulation. With the Gotoh 510's it is perfect for me.

I thought the re-imagined D-28 is 2017. That is what I've got. |

Of the guitars I've played it would be my Lowden. But if I was limited to only one guitar I'd have a lot to spend and I would want to try a bunch of guitars in the $15,000-$20,000 range. It would most probably be a 000 size with a 1 3/4 nut and short scale.

I could be happy with only one good guitar. I am happier with more. I've owned some nice guitars in my time and as of right now my Gibson J-15 would be my pick. I bought it last July and it has only gotten better since then. It plays great, sounds great, and has all the versatility I could ever need.

My Martin Hd28v cocobolo with a 1 11/16 nut and modified v neck. Sounds fanatastic and plays as easy as an electric.

I have always had a weakness for a Froggy Bottom. I have a Lowden F38C and so should be happy. One is not enough. Good thing I am not married.

My 2016 Martin 00-18. Comfort and playability, good balanced sound and versatile. But I have to keep my 2016 00-28 also. They are going to my grandsons as birth-year guitars.

This is a tough question, mainly because I'm going through a similar dilemma in trying to discover what am I really looking for in an acoustic guitar. I love the things about each guitar and don't know how you can really have just one guitar.
If I was choosing out of my entire current lineup, I'd take my 000-28 Custom Shop. However, if I could choose any guitar out there, it might be the D-45 I played this weekend! |
