Another vote for that from me. Very Art Deco.

It looks like the middle part of the end graft is an overlap of the two MR sides with the left side forming the top of the graft and the right side flowing into the bottom.

Very clever stuff.

Thanks Fred ... I was going for a bit of an Art Deco sort of look. The grain on the sides of this set is gorgeous, but doesn't even remotely line up in a bookmatched pattern at the butt, so I had to have a snazzy end graft to tie things together. I'm liking the result! I'll be putting together a time-lapse video of the graft going together at the end of this thread.

Default Headstock

Love how you matched the headstock bevel to the body binding. Russ

Thanks Russ ... hopefully it will help tie the neck to the body!

I won't be posting now for a couple of weeks ... we're off to Europe ... possibly even a quick visit to the Holy Grail show ... maybe see you there?

Just curious what you use as porefiller?

Hi Ed ... I used water-based micro bead filler on the neck and epoxy on the body. I sand almost all of the surface epoxy off and then wipe on epoxy thinned with alcohol to a water-like viscosity to even up the colour ... to ensure there is not a thick layer of epoxy. As long as you leave 24 hours between applications of the epoxy, it doesn't seem to shrink back at all.

Thanks for that tip on filling with epoxy Dave. Hadn't heard of the second thinned coat method before . Russ

David, I'm intrigued by the medallion (?) on the rear side of peghead.
Close-up shot? Explanation? Defense?
It's looking great,
Steve
