Default Mag PU.... what preamp or processing?

For ease of installation I'm putting a humbucking mag PU in an older guitar that isn't worthy of a better sounding piezo PU. Just want to be able to amp the guitar occasionally. Wondering if anyone has some hints or suggestions for a preamp or processing that may make it sound a little less 'electric'. Mostly would be going into Fishman Mini amp.

Boss AD-2 sells for about 80 bucks...I use it with my M80 sometimes when I need some notch filter, however it has some smoothing compression & saturation too via it's resonance feature if ya like.

Hit and miss for me with the acoustic resonance. I find it works REALLY well on UST type pickups, but in the mix of that processing a lot more of the midrange can be brought out. Depending on your pickup, it just might exacerbate that electric sound.

Maybe a Zoom A3 or similar would work well. There, you can actually select your pickup type, and use 3 effects at once. Super compact for what you are getting, and reasonably priced as well.

I have no experience with the Zoom AC-2 or AC-3, but I did notice that both of them have input selection switches that let you choose a magnetic pickup as your source.

Got one used for 150. This is just a preamp no eq.
One gets what one pays for.
But there are certainly other options for mag pups.
since your going into an amp maybe just a di box
would work for you.
here's one for 20 bucks.

For a whole year I combined a passive mag soundhole pickup and a Shure Beta 57A into a Zoom A3 preamp. I think it worked pretty well. On the two occasions where we had a soundguy, I skipped the preamp and just combined them at the board and it was downright good sounding.

The Behringer ADi is a good piece of gear that offers eq, boost and Di, and for only$30. It's based on the Tech 21 Acoustic Di.

Since you're going into the Fishman Mini, I'm not sure you need another preamp. The preamp, effects, and EQ on the mini might very well be enough. At least try it like that first!
